B. Children's Literature: StoryWriting

Genre: Fiction

Mr. Bean was not in room 3B. He was not in the school at all. He was in bed, sick. Ella and her classmates wondered what they would do for a whole day without him. She was certainly not looking forward to having a substitute. The substitute came in and wrote, "Mrs. Smithelton" on the board and scratched the chalk the whole way. Ella knew this was not going to be a pleasant day. By the time math came around, Ella could not wait to go home. Mrs. Smithelton said they would work on data analysis. Even the name made Ella's head hurt. Mrs. Smithelton then said that everyone had to get out a ruler and go stand by a partner. She then instructed them to take off their shoes. Eww! Why would anyone ever want 25 third graders' 50 smelly feet uncovered? Ella knew that Mrs. Smithelton must be crazy, but she knew better than to not listen to a teacher. She and Cynthia each measured each other's feet with the ruler: Ella's foot was 5 inches long and Cynthia's foot was 6 inches long. Cynthia had big feet! They then went to the board
